Today, we’re announcing the release of our Google Cloud region. Now, new workspaces can run in the Google Cloud Platform (“GCP”) ecosystem, meaning that all syncs, storage, and other features like Git Sync will take place entirely within Google Cloud’s infrastructure.
This is another important step in our platform journey as we partner with large enterprises and Fortune 500 companies in their Data Activation initiatives. While we’ve always been multi-region, we’re excited to say that now our customers have even more flexibility as to where their Hightouch workspaces run, with the ability to remain within the Google Cloud ecosystem.
Why This Matters
If your services are built on Google Cloud, you may prefer to use Hightouch’s GCP region as it can improve performance and lower network costs when using services like BigQuery or Google Cloud Storage. Further, you may have data residency requirements, or want to take advantage of features like Private Service Connect, or use of a self-managed storage bucket in Google Cloud Storage. Now, you have the full flexibility to do so!

How to Get Started
When you set up a new workspace, you’ll be prompted to select your region. You’ll find gcp-us-east4
in the drop down. (Note that once your workspace has been created, the region cannot be changed.)

When the GCP region is selected:
- For data in transit (when data is synced from your source to your destination), Hightouch will perform the sync on Google Cloud’s infrastructure.
- For data at rest (which is stored for change data capture and debugging purposes), Hightouch will use an encrypted Google Cloud Storage bucket. Business Tier customers have further optionality to set up their own external storage bucket so that no customer data persists in Hightouch infrastructure at all.
