Hightouch has come a long way in just the last few months—not to mention since the three of us founded it just a few years ago. In 2024, we’ve doubled our year-over-year revenue, helped enterprise giants adopt the Composable CDP to dramatically improve ROI from their problematic incumbents, and debuted AI Decisioning to remove the guesswork from marketing with continuous experimentation.
Our incredible team has enabled this success, which is why we’re thrilled to introduce our new Head of Revenue, Josh Kanagy. Josh has a deep well of experience driving growth at startups, notably at Sprinklr, where he scaled the sales team throughout the company’s journey to a successful IPO.
“What drew me to Hightouch was the exceptional quality of the team and leaders who are reshaping the CDP industry. Hightouch's offering is compelling because it turns any company's data into a growth engine. I’ve already seen how Hightouch reshapes enterprises by giving marketers self-serve access to data and AI, and couldn’t be more excited to change the game for more customers in the future.”
Josh Kanagy
Head of Revenue at Hightouch
Josh’s skills will be instrumental in accelerating our growth even further, but his commitment to our culture is what sets him apart. We just got our entire company together for an offsite last week, where Josh inspired us all and helped our team prepare for the exciting road ahead. Josh has continued to place emphasis first and foremost on attracting the best people to Hightouch, and earning the respect and trust of our employees and customers alike.
A brief Q&A with Josh Kanagy
What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned in your career?
No matter what your role is, the product you're building, or your goals, success is all about the people.
Hightouch makes incredible software that’s reshaping marketing, but we're not in the software business. We’re in the people business: we help real people solve problems and advance their careers by using our products.
I can’t tell you how many times prospective customers have said to me, “You know, it was all kind of a toss-up. We really can't tell what's different between you and the other companies that we looked at. We just knew we wanted to work with you and your team more.”
So yes, I joined Hightouch in part because of the industry-redefining products, but I committed to this team because of the incredible talent and passion I saw when I met the team. We have the best people in the business, and we’re going to keep helping the real people we serve every day.
What’s something overrated you’ve seen professionally and something that you think is underrated?
What’s overrated is relying on what you did in the past.
The world is so different in 2024 than it was in 2022 or even 2023. Your trophy case doesn't matter, because you can only work in the present. Whatever you’ve done before is only important if you’ve learned from it because you have to keep on delivering today.
This matters for individuals to advance their career just as much as it matters for companies to keep delivering value to their customers. Frankly, a lot of the reason Hightouch has had such tremendous growth is because traditional Customer Data Platforms have not been delivering results for marketers. You have these huge, expensive incumbents that are leaving teams dissatisfied. Hightouch has been able to win because it’s delivering better results, and creating new ways for marketers to get more done with AI Decisioning.
What’s underrated is your mindset. People who bring a growth mindset, who commit to getting 1% better every single day, are the people who are going to succeed and help your company succeed. And again, the same thing is true for companies. Hightouch is so compelling because it keeps getting better and finding new ways to improve marketer effectiveness, data access, and quality of life. This growth mindset is a key part of our culture, and will be a key part of what sustains us into the future.
And for fun: what’s something in your personal life that you think is overrated and underrated?
So these two go hand-in-hand: I love sunrises and really don’t care about sunsets.
I actually sort of drive my family crazy with this one. Whenever I go on a vacation with them, I have to get up early so I can see the sunrise in a new place. It’s a passion of mine, and I know it’s a little crazy, but truly: it’s my favorite thing.
The road ahead
We couldn’t be more excited about the road ahead of us at Hightouch. The trust our customers put in us and the growth we’ve achieved happen because of the products we build and the people we work with every day. We’re building our team faster than ever before; you can find open opportunities at https://hightouch.com/careers.
